This baby bib pattern is designed to fit bigger babies. It is perfect for older babies or babies who are chubby and need something a little bigger.

Materials

• Yarn: Bernat Handicrafter Cotton #4 worsted weight cotton yarn.
• Crochet Hook: H/8-5.00MM
• Other: Measuring Tape, Scissors, Yarn Needle.

I used Bernat Handicrafter Cotton yarn. Not only is this yarn soft enough for babies, but it is also absorbent! Any similar cotton yarn could be used to make this.

Finished Size

• Measures just over 5″ over the rows.
• 1 year old and older.

This crochet baby bib pattern is nice and big. You see it modeled on a mannequin for a 6-month-old. It’s fairly big on it, so it should be okay for 1-year-olds and older.

The pattern starts with 10 chains, but you can also start this with 14 or 18 chains if you need to make it even bigger.

If you need to make it smaller, you could try using a thinner cotton.

Instructions

Ch 10,

Row 1: 2 sc in second ch from hook, *sc in next ch, 2 sc in next ch, repeat from * to end of row. (14 sts) Turn.

Row 2: Ch 2 (does not count as st, now and throughout), 2 dc in first st, dc in each st up to last st, 2 dc in last st. (16 sts) Turn.

Row 3: Ch 1, 2 sc in first st, sc in next st, *ch 2, sc in next 2 sts, repeat from * to end of row, work another sc in last st. (7 ch-2 sps and 18 sts) Turn.

Row 4: Ch 2, 2 dc in first st, dc in next 2 sts, *ch 2, sk ch-2 sp, dc in next 2 sts, repeat from * to last st, 2 dc in last st. (7 ch-2 sps and 20 sts) Turn.

Row 5: Ch 1, 2 sc in first st, sc in next 3 sts, *ch 2, sk ch-2 sp, sc in next 2 sts, repeat from * to last 2 sts, sc in next st, 2 sc in last st. (7 ch-2 sps and 22 sts)Turn.

Row 6: Ch 1, 2 sc in first st, sc in next 4 sts, *working from behind the ch-2 sps of last 2 rows, work 2 tr sts into ch-2 sp of row 3 (or third row down), sc in next 2 sts, repeat from * to last 3 sts, sc in next 2 sts, 2 sc in last st. (38 sts) Turn.

Row 7: Ch 1, 2 sc in first st, sc in each st up to the last st, 2 sc in last st. (40 sts) Turn.

Rows 8-13: Repeat rows 2 to 7 once more.

Row 19: Repeat row 7, do not turn. Continue with String.

Strings & Edging

• Ch 20 or more, sc in second ch from hook and in each ch to end. (Do not turn). Working along the neck edge, sc evenly across to next corner. Ch 20, sc in second ch from hook and in each ch to end, join with sl st to corresponding sc (first sc made in row 19). Fasten off.
