Quick Crochet Blanket – Vivi
Make this quick crochet blanket pattern in time for the fall weather. Fall is my favorite season of the year, and I always love making pretty things for it. I would have loved to add orange to the mix, but I didn’t have any on hand, so I went with what I had.
I used two V-stitches and chains for a light and lacy design. The stitch pattern works great with rows of colors, making it easy to customize this for any season, holiday, or home decor.
This open V-stitch crochet blanket pattern makes for the perfect weekend crochet blanket and also as a last-minute gift idea for friends and family.
I used Lion Brand Pound of Love yarn with an H and an I crochet hook. I went down a size from what is recommended by the yarn label because I wanted the stitches and chains to be a bit tighter than normal. Any medium-weight yarn will work to make this blanket.

What Size Should I Make My Blanket?
This blanket measures 36 inches wide by 46 inches long. The length is just short of a standard lapghan size.
The size is super easy to customize in terms of both width and length. If making adjustments to the length, you’ll also need to make adjustments to the colors, but that is easy to do. Use this blanket sizing chart as a reference guide.
Due to the big holes in this blanket, I would not recommend making this for babies, but it would be the perfect stitch to make for a child’s bed, or even a full-sized bed.
The Hdc V-st and Tr Crochet Blanket Pattern is another blanket that works up fairly quickly and can be modified with fall colors or other colors as desired.
In terms of fall colors, this Fall Striped Afghan Crochet Pattern is a good choice. The blanket is worked in solid stitches for a cozy blanket to keep you warm.

Pattern Instructions
- With an H hook, ch 132, or any multiple of 6 to get the width you need.
- Row 1: Working into back bumps, sc in 2nd ch from hook and into each ch across. Turn. [131 sts]
- Row 2: With an I hook, ch 2 (counts as first hdc now and throughout), sk next st, hdc v-st in next st, *ch 3, sk next 5 sts, hdc v-st in next st; repeat from * across to last 2 sts, sk next st, hdc in last st. Turn. [22 v-sts]
- Row 3: Ch 4 (counts as first tr), tr v-st in first v-st, *ch 3, tr v-st in next v-st; repeat from * across; tr in last st (2nd ch). Turn. [22 v-sts]
- Row 4: Ch 2, hdc v-st in first v-st, *ch 3, hdc v-st in next v-st; repeat from * across; hdc in last st (4th ch). Turn. [22 v-sts]
- Rows 5-74: Repeat Rows 3 & 4.
- Row 75: With an H hook, ch 1, sc in first st and into each st and ch across. Fasten off.
