This easy crochet beanie pattern starts off at the brim with a simple ribbing. You can adjust this brim in a multiple of 4 to fit comfortably around your head.

Ribbing Rows

Row 1: With J hook, ch 10, sc in 2nd ch from hook and into each ch across. Turn. [9 sc]

Rows 2-60: Ch 1, blsc in first st and into each st across. Turn. [9 sts] Continue with this row until you have reached a desired circumference making sure to end with a multiple of 4 for your row count.

Ch 1 and join the ribbing rows by slip stitching the last row to the free loops of starting chs.

Working in the Round (Body of Hat)

Rnd 1: With K hook, and working along the ribbing edge, ch 1, sc in the end of the first row and into each row around; join with sl st in first sc. [60 sts]

Rnd 2: Ch 1, sc in same st as join, *sk next st, v-st in next st, sk next st**, sc in next st; rep from * around ending last rep at **; join with sl st in first sc. [15 v-sts and 15 sc]

Rnd 3: Ch 4 (counts as first dc and ch-1 sp), *(sc, ch 1) in v-st**, (dc, ch 1) in next sc; rep from * around ending last rep at **; join with sl st in first dc. [30 sts and 30 ch-1 sps]

Rnd 4: Ch 1, sc in same st as join, *v-st in next sc**, sc in next dc; rep from * around ending last rep at **; join with sl st in first sc. [15 v-sts and 15 sc]

Rnds 5-19: Rep Rnds 3 and 4 until you have reached a desired height making sure to end with Rnd 3.

Rnd 21: Ch 1, sc2tog around. {15 sts]
