HDC and DC V Stitch Crochet Twisted Ear Warmer Headband

This crochet twisted ear warmer headband pattern is crocheted in an open stitch to give you a pretty, yet simple laced design. The crocheted ear warmer is perfect for the spring and fall weather when it’s cold out, but not too cold. With that said, it’s the perfect accessory to be worn under the hood of a jacket, even in the coldest winter weather.

Not only does this twisted ear warmer crochet up quickly, but it doesn’t require much yarn, which makes it a great go-to pattern for making gifts.

The twist looks great if worn in the middle of the forehead, but depending on your style, you might like wearing it off to the side as well.

The Size

The finished measurements are approximately 21 inches in circumference by 3.25 inches wide. It will fit an adult large, but is easy to adjust to other sizes as well, including children’s sizes! See this crochet ear warmer size chart.

The Yarn

I used Vanna’s Choice, a medium worsted weight yarn. I love this yarn because it gives you a lot of stretch, which is always ideal for ear warmers and headbands.

Although a medium weight yarn, it works well with a larger crochet hook such as the J.

The yarn is available at Michaels and at online yarn stores.

The Stitch Pattern

If you love the v-stitch, then you will enjoy working with this stitch pattern, which is worked with the half double crochet v-stitch and the double crochet v-stitch. The two v-stitches are alternated after each row for a pretty, yet simple lace.

Step 1

To sew the twist, fold the band lengthwise with the Right Sides together and the Wrong Sides facing the outside.

Step 2

Layer the band as shown so that the edges overlap from the center. You can place your stitch markers in the middle if you like. I just eyeballed it, because you can adjust it in Step 5 as needed.

Step 3

Then fold one end over the other as shown below.

Step 4

Next, fold the second end over so that the ends interlock.

Step 5

You should have four layers. Make adjustments as needed to make sure everything is centered evenly.

Step 6

With your tail end of the yarn, and using a tapestry needle, sew across making sure to go through all four layers.

Step 7

Turn right side out to hide the seam. Easy Peasy!!!
