  • Yarn: Bernat Handicrafter Cotton (Worsted Weight, #4; 100% Cotton; 1.75 oz/50g; 80yds/73m) 1 ball
  • Crochet Hook: H/8-5.00mm

Measurements

  • Gauge: 2.25″ over the first 4 rounds.
  • Finished Size: Fits a 500mL water bottle.

Abbreviations

  • Ch/Chs = Chain/Chains
  • Hdc = Half Double Crochet
  • Rep = Repeat
  • Rnd/Rnds = Round/Rounds
  • RS = Right Side
  • Sc = Single Crochet
  • Sk = Skip
  • Sl St = Slip Stitch
  • Sp/Sps = Space/Spaces
  • St/Sts = Stitch/Stitches
  • V-st/sts = V-Stitch/Stitches

Special Stitch Instructions

V-Stitch (v-st): 2 hdc in same ch, st or sp. When you work a v-st into another v-st, work the v-st in between the 2 hdc that make up the v-st.

Rnd 1 (RS): Work 6 sc into a magic circle; join with sl st in first sc. [6 sts]

Rnd 2: Ch 1, work 2 sc in same st as join and into each st around; join with sl st in first sc. [12 sts]

Rnd 3: Ch 1, 2 sc in same st as join, sc in next st, *2 sc in next st, sc in next st; rep from * around; join with sl st in first sc. [18 sts]

Rnd 4: Ch 1, 2 sc in same st as join, sc in next 2 sts, *2 sc in next st, sc in next 2 sts; rep from * around; join with sl st in first sc. [24 sts]

Body (Side of Holder)

Rnd 5: Ch 1, sc in same st as join and into each st around; join with sl st in first sc. [24 sts]

Rnd 6: Ch 1, v-st in same st as join, *sk next st, v-st in next v-st st; rep from * around; sk last st; join with sl st in first hdc of first v-st. [12 v-sts]

Rnd 7: Sl st into first v-st, ch 1, v-st in same v-st and into each v-st around; join with sl st in first hdc of first v-st. [12 v-sts]

Rnds 8-16: Rep Rnd 7.

Rnd 17: Ch 1, sc in same st as join and into each st around; join with sl st in first sc. [24 sts]

Handles

Rnd 18: Ch 1, sc in same st as join and into next 5 sts; *loosely ch 100 (or any number needed to obtain the length you want for the handles), sk next 6 sts**, sc in next 6 sts; rep from * to **; join with sl st in first sc. [12 sts and 200 chs]

Note: Work into the back bumps of the chs to keep things looking the same on both sides of the handle.

Rnd 19: Ch 1, sc in same st as join and into each st and into each ch around; join with sl st in first sc. [212 sts]

Rnds 20-22: Ch 1, sc in same st as join and into each st around; join with sl st in first sc. Fasten Off at last Rnd. [212 sts]
