ESC Cross Stitch Cup Cozy Crochet Pattern

Just like the extended single crochet is one of my favorite stitches, so is the extended single crochet cross stitch! It not only gives you a beautiful texture, but it pulls the stitches closer together too, which makes it ideal for a cup cozy.

Make one or make several to keep them handy in your car or purse. They come in handy, especially during times when you get handed your coffee without a sleeve! For cold drinks, it doesn’t matter so much, but for hot drinks, you can really burn your hands if you’re not careful!

The Size

The finished crochet cup cozy fits nicely over a standard take-out cup. It shrinks a bit after washing, but not too much. If you need to make adjustments a stitch multiple is provided to make that easy for you.

The Yarn

This cozy is shown here in Lily Sugar N Cream, a medium worsted-weight yarn. The yarn is available in small balls, as well as in large cones. Either yarn works well.

Bernat handicrafter cotton or any other medium-weight cotton yarn will work as well.

The Stitch Pattern

As already mentioned, this crochet cozy is worked up in the extended single crochet cross stitch. The extended single crochet isn’t quite as tall as some of the other stitches, which in turn helps to keep the fabric nice and tight. And instead of a lacy texture, you get a nice solid texture.
