Beads and Crossed HDC Crochet Coffee Cup Cozy

Make this textured crochet coffee cup cozy as a last-minute gift idea for all tea and coffee lovers in your circle of friends. You don’t need much yarn or time, making this the perfect last-minute solution. Simply stuff a cup full of tea bags and add this to the mix and you’re all set for a quick and easy gift.

The best part about this cozy is that it can be washed and reused many times, thus saving the environment from paper waste. And speaking of the environment, you can make this with leftover cotton yarn that you would otherwise throw out.

For this design, I chose a pretty textured stitch pattern with the bead stitch and the cross stitch. And if that wasn’t enough, I also chose to work into the back loops only on some rounds to give you a nice ridged look. It’s a pretty stitch combination that you’ll enjoy showing off.

So why not make several for your car to have handy as you head out with friends and family members?

Crochet Coffee Cup Cozy Pattern Information

This take-out cup cozy crochet pattern works up quickly and can be gifted throughout the year to all tea and coffee lovers.

Skill Level: Easy

Materials

  • Yarn: Bernat Handicrafter Cotton (Worsted Weight, #4; 100% Cotton; 1.75 oz/50g; 80yds/73m) 1 ball
  • Crochet Hook: H 5.00mm
  • Other: Measuring Tape, Scissors, Yarn Needle.

I used Bernat Handicrafter Cotton. It is a medium worsted-weight yarn and is available in most of the popular yarn stores. You can use other worsted-weight yarn like Sugar N Cream if you like – they both come out to be about the same.

Whatever yarn substitute you choose, just make sure to go with cotton because it helps to protect better against the heat.

Finished Size

The finished size fits a standard take-out coffee cup. I’ve tested it on all three sizes, and it works great on all three standard cup sizes.

However, if you need to make adjustments to the size, you can do so by making more or fewer chains in the multiple provided. The multiple for the starting chains is a multiple of two.
